Chasing Victory began in 2011, after 2 long years of reconstructive surgery on founder and master craftsman Jonathan Stroud’s left hand.
For Jonathan and his wife Lisa, 2009 was going great. Jonathan was enjoying his job laying hardwood floors. He loved working with his hands, working with wood, and providing financial security for his family. The happy couple also saw the arrival of their first child, a beautiful baby girl.
But two months after Lisa gave birth, Jonathan’s left hand was pulled into an unforgiving table saw. Life quickly went from good to bad. The table saw not only damaged Jonathan’s hand, but also his sense of purpose and his ability to provide for his family.
Jonathan looked for any job he could possibly do, but only found hopelessness, depression, and loss of confidence. As a result, the couple's marriage took a huge hit. Where there was once adoration and love for one another, there was now despair and hatred.
Determined to provide for his family, Jonathan gave an old idea of his a try…wooden rings. Though not an easy learning process, the idea was a success. "Hopelessness turned to hope, depression turned to joy"
Since the incident he had been chasing his victory, and he finally caught it. Hopelessness turned to hope, depression turned to joy, and the despair and hatred between him and Lisa turned back to love and adoration. Life was good again.
Today, Jonathan and Lisa believe very strongly in the commitment of marriage. Chasing Victory rings are a symbol of that belief. To the couple, they serve as a reminder of what their marriage has overcome, and that for every marriage, the best is yet to come.
“I work from 5 in the morning to 5 in the evening, creating each ring by hand. I also answer each email, take each photo, and package & ship each order. After work I play with my daughter and do my best to be the most loving husband I can be.
This is my story about how Chasing Victory was born from a bad situation that turned around for good. I hope it can be an inspiration to you, encouraging you to keep chasing victory.”
