This is the ring that grows high in the treetops, amongst the ring-tailed lemurs and koalas. Only in the densest portions of the jungle, somewhere in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia. The green is virginal, unblemished, the eucalyptus light and pure, swaying gently in the breeze as our skilled climbers go hand over hand up the branches. On the smallest twig of the highest branch of the tallest tree, this ring is plucked, and our climber’s grip can relax as he looks out across the ocean of trees, the light mist floating up from the canopy, punctured only by stately crags of red aboriginal rock.
