We were lost in the murky brown oxbows of the Mekong River in Laos. The steep jungle mountains obscured our view of the rivers ahead, and in the fading light, it seemed foolish to try and navigate, but the steep banks of thick underbrush held unknown dangers. Just around the bend, we saw a beautiful monkeypod tree, low in height, but a broad canopy of twisting branches and leaves and roots. We moored ourselves to one of the roots and nestled ourselves at the base of its trunk, lifted just above the swamp, and were cradled there, safe and comfortable until, in the light of the day, we found our way home.

The thinness of the wood inlay creates a sleek, streamlined look. It’s subtle in comparison to her engagement ring, allows the diamonds of the latter to appear larger and brighter. An all-around fine choice for a woman who values simple design, straightforward appeal.
Purple has been the color of royalty for millennia. Originally distilled from trace amounts of dye found in oysters, clothes, and jewelry with that color was reserved for the Roman Senate, for kings and queens, for the drivers of the world. Here, we present our crown jewels: Purpleheart wood inlaid into a broad crown of white gold, studded with diamonds. This is a ring for true royalty, regal in its amaranthine streaks, and illustrious in its sheen.
